![]() New ClearOS users aren't going to know the directories are hidden down in /var/flexhare/shares I'd still like to see ClearOS at some point having a plugin system for Flexshare so it would be possible to add a tick box to a share which if ticked would enable that directory on serviio. I guess it depends if others are interesed in Serviio or not. I'd like to get it into a module and as it has it's own web interface there's probably no need to integrate it with Webconfig or at least not much so it should transisition to ClearOS 6 easily. I'll look into that maybe this weekend and update the guide. I guess more importantly I should be trying to follow my own advice I suggested and switch this to use webconfig so it doesn't need the Apache module installed and running. I can confirm it does work with PHP 5.1.6 as it's what I'm running on that server. I went with a later version as it should on theory be better but suspect it will work with the ClearOS version. I had that enabled and rpmforge and it installed it from rpmforge. ![]() I'm aware ffmpeg is in the ClearOS repos actually though forgot as I was writing this. However I'm a big on that approach based on the great work Tim has done with his add-ins I might see if I can package this up but I've never done that before. A lot more effort to get working than MiniDLNA but the extra features in my case more than make up for this. You can add paths to index here, see clients that are discovered and so on.īeen running it for about a week and it's been rock solid stable so far. Now go to on your PC (Must obviously be using ClearOS for it's DNS server else this won't resolve). Cannot do much harm with it so I left it that way. There's no password protection on this site but it's only available from the same network which is home for me. Now recreate a new config file for Apache to serve this. # that require network functionality will fail.ġ27.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhostġ92.168.0.1 server system serviio ![]() # Do not remove the following line, or various programs On the line which has your server IP and host names, add in serviio so mine looks like this I access this by going to as I don't need this available externally. You shouldn't need to change anything in the config.php as it's running on the same host as Serviio. You need to be able to get the web interface installed. Hopefully the service will start fine but you cannot yet do anything with it. usr/bin/sudo -u $SERVIIO_USER -H $SERVIIO_BIN -headless &Įcho -n "Shutting down Serviio DLNA daemon: " SERVIIO_BIN="$SERVIIO_HOME/bin/$SERVIIO_DAEMON" # Description: Start the serviio DLNA server in headless mode I've written my own, it's probably a bit rough but it works. Now lets add in a init.d script for this. I run this under a seperate user so lets make a user Now you need to download and install Serviio. *** Add instructions on how to install RPMForge or better a link to a thread which discusses this *** I've not tried it but I suspect it won't work without ffmpeg installed. You'll need ffmpeg installed for transcoding and thumbnails, etc to work. You'll need to rename is using mv as it'll get part of the URL on the end or did in my case. Get the self extracting RPM version for Linux. You can get the link for the latest one which is jre-6u24-linux-i586-rpm.bin currently. ![]() This assumes a bit of command line knowledge but I'll try and flesh that out if people are struggling.įirst of all Serviio is Java based so you'll need a JRE installed. So let us know if something doesn't workout right. OK this is a rough guide for the moment as I wasn't noting it down as I installed it so I might miss something. It also supports resuming playback on my Samsung DLNA TV which is the first reason I came across this as no other DLNA server I could find did this other than Samsung's own Windows only one.īy default it has a GUI console but there is a PHP based web interface which works well for our GUIless ClearOS boxes. It will go on the Internet to fetch movie posters for movies, meta data to give Genre, Actors and such folders all filled in automatically. It supports Transcoding of media in real time (I can transcode 720p content in real time to my Xbox 360). I know we have MiniDLNA, there's also MediaTomb and so on but this I believe is the best DLNA server you can run in Linux currently.
